HC Deb 12 August 1867 vol 189 c1333
MR. REARDEN

said, he rose to ask the Chief Secretary for Ireland, Whether it is his intention to adopt measures, as speedily as possible, to relieve the famine-stricken poor in the West of Ireland, and to afford employment to the population in that district of the country by the promotion of the Public Works promised by him before and after the Whitsuntide recess?

THE ATTORNEY GENERAL FOR IRELAND (Mr. CHATTERTON)

said, in reply, that he had not received any information which would enable him to answer the Question, and he therefore hoped the hon. Member would postpone it until a future day, when the noble Lord the Chief Secretary for Ireland would be in his place.
