VERNERsaid, he wished to ask the Secretary to the Treasury, If the Government have noticed the increase which has recently taken place in the Railway Fares between Holyhead and London; and if it is intended to make any remonstrance on the subject to the London and North Western Railway Company, who obtained so large a subsidy for the carriage of the Mails, and for giving increased facilities for the passage traffic between England and Ireland?
§ MR. HUNTsaid, his own attention had not been called to the increase of charge. He could not speak for other Members of the Government, but probably only those had their attention called to it who made use of the line. The arrangement with-the Company was a Post Office arrangement, relating merely to the carriage of letters, and in no way whatever to passenger fares.
