HC Deb 01 August 1867 vol 189 c604
MR. SPEAKER

said, that a Question which stood next on the Paper, in the name of the hon. Member for Peterborough (Mr. Whalley)—namely, To ask the right hon. Member for the University of Cambridge, whether the Select Committee on the Ecclesiastical Titles and Roman Catholic Relief Acts are about to close their inquiry without hearing evidence in support of the present Law; and why the evidence of the Rev. Mr. M'Ghee, which has been offered in support of the present Law, has not been taken, was a Question which had reference to proceedings before a Select Committee which had not yet made a Report to the House. It was therefore irregular, and he trusted the hon. Member would not desire to put it.
