HC Deb 29 May 1866 vol 183 cc1475-6

MR. BEACH moved for leave to introduce a Bill to render valid marriages solemnized in the parish of Sydmonton, in the county of Southampton. He stated that the parish church had been pulled down, and another erected on the same foundation and on consecrated ground. It was, therefore, considered unnecessary to consecrate the new church, but a recent decision rendered it doubtful whether con- secration ought not to have taken place. Under these circumstances, it was sought to remove all doubt as to the validity of the marriages which had taken place in the church between 1853 and 1865.

Motion agreed to.

Bill to render valid divers Marriages solemnized in the Church of Sydmonton, in the County of Southampton, ordered to be brought in by Mr. BEACH and Mr. SCLATER-BOOTH;
