HC Deb 14 May 1866 vol 183 c873
MR. M'CULLAGH TORRENS

said, he would beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Colonies, Whether, having before him the Report of the Jamaica Commissioners of Inquiry, he has advised Her Majesty to disallow the Bill of Indemnity passed by the Colonial Legislature for acts done in repressing the disturbances of October last?

MR. CARDWELL

replied that it was quite true that Her Majesty's Government had received the Report of the Jamaica Commissioners, but they had not yet received the whole of the evidence upon which that Report was founded, and therefore they did not think it right to take any steps with regard to the Indemnity Bill.
