THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUERSir, I will give the hon. and learned Member the best answer in my power. If the debate on the Electoral Franchise Bill be concluded to-night, and the Bill be brought in, our intention is to propose its second reading on the 12th of April, which is regarded as the first day for the dispatch of serious and important business after the Easter recess. Our intention then is to prosecute the proceedings consequent on the second reading of the Bill to their completion without any inter- 140 ruption from any business under the control of the Government, and to bring forward the Budget on the first Government night after those proceedings shall have been completed.
