HC Deb 26 July 1866 vol 184 c1536
MR. JASPER MORE

said, he would beg to ask the hon. Member for the City of Oxford, Whether it is his intention to divide the House on the second reading of the Compulsory Church Rate Abolition Bill?

MR. NEATE

said, that before replying to the Question of the hon. Member he wished to make a few observations, and to place himself in order he would move the adjournment of the House. He wished to remind the House of the exact position in which the question stood.

MR. SPEAKER

said, he must inform the hon. Member that it was not competent for him, upon the Motion which he had intimated his intention to make, to enter upon the subject-matter of the debate on the Bill, because that debate was set down for a future date.

MR. NEATE

said, in that case he would beg to state that he meant to proceed to a division on the second reading of the Bill.
