MR. SPEAKER acquainted the House, that he had this day received a letter from Mr. Stirling, informing him that it is not his intention to defend his return for the County of Dumbarton:—Letter read as followeth:—

"Cordale, Dumbartonshire,

"8th Feby. 1866.

SIR,—I beg to inform you that it is not my intention to defend my Return for the County of Dumbarton.—I have the honour to be, Sir, your obedient Servant," JA. STIRLING.

"To the Right Honble.

"The Speaker of the House of Commons."
