HC Deb 07 August 1866 vol 184 c2140
MR. NEATE

said, he would beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, Whether he had received a Memorial respecting the case of the convict Toomer; and, if so, what course is intended to be pursued in consequence?

MR. WALPOLE

replied, that he had received a memorial respecting the case, and having read it, and the evidence taken in Court, he felt it his duty to request the learned Judge who tried the prisoner to communicate a copy of his notes. Until those notes were sent he was not prepared to decide on the course to be taken.
