CONSIDERATION. THIRD READING.

MR. MONK

moved the addition of the following proviso at the end of Mr. Henley's clause, after Clause 16:— Provided always that from and after the 29th of September next all the seats in the said churches of Christ Church, St. Andrew, St. Matthew, St. Stephen, St. Mary, St. James-the-Less, and Holy Trinity, not held by faculty or prescription, nor appropriated under the authority of any Act of Parliament or of the deeds of consecration of the said churches, shall be for ever free and unappropriated. The object of the proviso was to preserve the seats free for the poor in the large district of Westminster.
