HC Deb 26 April 1866 vol 182 c2076
MR. HENRY SEYMOUR

said, he wished to ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, If Her Majesty's Government have received any information with regard to the alleged raid of Italian Volunteers on the Austrian territory; and whether this fact has anything to do with the temporary refusal of the Emperor of Austria to receive Count Arese and Signor Venosta?

MR. LAYARD

replied that the Government had no reason to believe that there was any truth in the report of a raid of Italian volunteers on the Austrian territory, nor had they any reason to believe that the Emperor of Austria had refused to receive Count Arese and Signor Venosta.
