HC Deb 04 May 1865 vol 178 c1465
MR. HANBURY

said, he would beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, If he has received a Memorial from the Court of Common Council of the City, requesting his sanction to the removal of Executions from Newgate to within the walls of the City Prison in Camden Road?

SIR GEORGE GREY

said, in reply, that no such memorial had been received, nor was it likely that it should, as it was not in the power of the Secretary of State under the existing law to comply with any such requests.
