§ SIR GEORGE GREYsaid, with refer- 1470 ence to this Bill, which stood last on the Orders for the Day, that if his hon. Friend the Member for Leeds (Mr. Baines) concurred in the arrangement, the Government proposed to take it as the first Order for Monday, on the understanding that this course would have to be altered if the Financial Resolutions were not disposed of that evening so as to admit of such an arrangement.
§ MR. BAINESsaid, he believed that the course proposed by the right hon. Gentleman would be the most convenient and acceptable one to the feelings of the House.
§ MR. BENTINCKsaid, he wished to know when the debate on the Union Chargeability Bill was to be resumed. He understood that that Bill was the first on the Orders for Monday, but the course proposed by the right hon. Gentleman would have the effect of throwing all the arrangements into a state of uncertainty.
§ SIR GEORGE GREYsaid, it was true that the Union Chargeability Bill was fixed for Monday, but it appeared to be the wish of the House that the debate on the Borough Franchise Bill should be resumed as early as possible.
