SIR MINTO FARQUHARsaid, he would beg to ask the Secretary of State for India, When the second payment of the Lucknow Prize Money, already ordered to be distributed in India, is to be made in this country; and when a decision is likely to be come to with reference to the Kirwee Prize Money?
§ SIR CHARLES WOOD, in reply, said, the first question of the hon. Gentleman was exactly the same as that asked on the 28th of March. He had no information then to give as to when the payment would take place. He was surprised himself at the delay, and on the 31st of March he wrote to India on the subject, but he had not yet received any reply, and it was therefore out of his power to say when the distribution would be made. He wished he could persuade hon. Gentlemen that he had nothing to do with the duty of distribution; that rested with the Treasury. 731 When the Court would decide on the question of the Kirwee Prize Money it was out of his power to say.
