SIR ROBERT PEEL moved for leave to bring in a Bill to continue and amend the Peace Preservation (Ireland) Act, 1856.

Motion made, and Question proposed, "That leave be given to bring in a Bill to continue and amend 'The Peace Preservation (Ireland) Act, 1856."'—(Sir Robert Peel.)

MR. HENNESSY

said, he opposed the introduction of the Bill, which was a coercive measure, and wholly unnecessary. He begged, therefore, to move the adjournment of the debate.
