said, he would beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Colonies, Whether the Government have received any information of the renewal of the New Zealand War, and of a battle having taken place in which thirteen of our troops had been killed?

MR. CARDWELL

replied, that the Government had not received any information of the sort. The only information which had reached them was the telegram which had appeared in the morning papers.
