THE ATTORNEY GENERALsaid, he would take the opportunity of directing the attention of the House to another subject. It would be within the recollection of the House that much attention had been excited by a report from Mr. Mallory, the Secretary of the Navy of the Confederate States, which was subsequently stated to be a forgery. He had received an extremely courteous communication from that gentleman, in which he stated that the document was a forgery throughout. Mr. Mallory had also requested him to make the House acquainted with his denial of the authenticity of the document.
