§ MR. LONGFIELDbrought up the Report of the Select Committee.
§ House informed, that the Committee had determined—
- 1. That William Walter Cargill, esquire, is duly elected a Burgess to serve in this present Parliament for the Borough of Berwiok-upon-Tweed.
- 2. That no case of bribery was proved.
- 3. That it was not proved that corrupt practices prevailed at the said Election.
- 4. That there was no evidence laid before the Committee from which they had reason to believe that corrupt practices extensively prevailed at the said Election.
- 5. That the Petition of Alexander Mitchell was not frivolous and vexatious.
§ And the said Determination was ordered to be entered in the Journals of this House.
