HC Deb 11 March 1864 vol 173 cc1824-5
MR. SCLATER-BOOTH

said, he wished to ask the Vice President of the Committee of Council on Education, What provision is made for the inspection of Night Schools?

MR. LOWE

said, in reply, that the night school was deemed another meeting of the day school; and as provision had been made for the inspection of the day school, so far it had also been made for the other. The night schools besides were at work for only six months of the year; and if they were to provide for the inspection of all these schools, scattered as they were up and down the country, it would necessitate the employment of double the number of Inspectors to accomplish the duty within the period. It was, therefore, not in their power to make such provision.
