§ MR. CARDWELLsaid, in reply, that what he had stated was that orders had been sent to Montreal and Quebec to concentrate the forces. With regard to the fortifications of the Colony, the Secretary of State for War had recently received from Canada a Report as to the state of the defences. That Report was now under the consideration of the military authorities; but his noble Friend (Earl de Grey) was not prepared to announce any determination upon it at present.
