MR. H. BERKELEYsaid, he wished to ask the Secretary to the Admiralty, If he has any objection to lay upon the table of the House a Return of the number of men absent from the United Kingdom belonging to the Royal Naval Reserve, specifying how many are gone Foreign, and of those how many were gone to the Federal and Confederate States of America.
§ LORD CLARENCE PAGETsaid, in reply, that he had no objection to lay on the table a Return of the Royal Naval Reserve, specifying how many of the men had gone Foreign. With regard to those men who might have joined the Federal or Confederate States services, the Admiralty were only aware that a few had done so, who, the moment the fact was ascertained, were discharged from the force. He should be happy to furnish the hon. Gentleman with a Return of the numbers of those men.
