HC Deb 19 February 1864 vol 173 cc798-9
MR. FERRAND

said, he begged to move the adjournment of the House in order to defend himself from the attack which had been made on him by the right hon. Gentleman opposite (Mr. Lowe). What he (Mr. Ferrand) had stated was this, that the right hon. Gentleman had told an hon. Gentleman, a Member of the House, that he (Mr. Ferrand) had been right in opposing certain proceedings of the Charity Commissioners in his (Mr. Ferrand's) own neighbourhood; that the Charity Commissioners were wrong, and that the Government were about to bring in a Bill to put a stop to the frauds of which, he had complained. Having made that statement, he would beg to withdraw the Motion for the adjournment.
