HC Deb 12 February 1864 vol 173 cc495-6

said, he rose to ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, What compensation has been awarded to Captain Melville White for the treatment he received from the Peruvian Government?

said, he regretted that he was unable to say when the Government would get the award in question. The matter had been referred, as his hon. and gallant Friend was aware, to the Hamburg Government, and they had placed the papers connected with it in the hands of a distinguished lawyer, but his Report had not yet been received.
