SIR GEORGE BOWYER

asked the Under Secretary of State for the Colonies, Whether Government have received a Petition from Malta, praying for reforms in the Constitution and Government of the Island, and whether it will be laid before Parliament? If that Petition had not been as yet received, he wished to know when it was expected.

MR. CHICHESTER FORTESCUE

said, he had heard a rumour of such a Petition, but it had not as yet been received at the Colonial Office. He really did not know when it would arrive.
