LORD STANLEYsaid, he wished to ask the Secretary of State for India, Whe- 1500 ther the territory of Dhar, confiscated during the war of 1857–8, and promised to be restored to its native ruler, has been so restored; and, if not, when the cession will take effect?
§ SIR CHARLES WOODwas understood to say, that it was stipulated that the territory of Dhar should be restored to its Rajah when he became eighteen years of age; but on his arriving at that age it was found that his physical and moral health was such as to render him quite incapable of discharging the duties of Government. Since that time he had very much improved, and although the whole administration of the country was not placed in his hands, by far the greatest portion of the business was carried on by himself and his Minister.
