said, he rose to ask the Chief Secretary for Ireland, If the Irish Government have directed the Inspector General of Constabulary to recall the instructions issued to the police on the 27th of October, 1862, with reference to the Act 25 & 26 Vict. c. 114, and to issue fresh instructions in conformity with the provisions of the said Act?

SIR ROBERT PEEL,

in reply, said, the question raised by the hon. and gallant Member had been submitted to the Law Officers of the Crown in Ireland, who were of opinion that the instructions that had been issued were in accordance with the Act of Parliament.
