§ MR. DARBY GRIFFITHsaid, he wished to ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Whether a written protest against the bombardment of Belgrade was not made and signed by the English and European Consuls, on the 17th of June 1862, which does not appear in the Blue Book on that subject; and, if so, whether it will be laid upon the table of the House?
§ MR. LAYARDsaid, in reply, that a protest was sent to the Pasha commanding the fortress, but a copy of that protest was not sent to the Foreign Office. He had requested that a copy should be supplied to the Foreign Office, and he did not at present see any objection to lay it on the table of the House. Upon receiving it, however, he would communicate with his hon. Friend on the subject.
