HC Deb 08 May 1863 vol 170 cc1395-6
MR. LYGON

said, he would beg to ask Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer, What amount of Revenue he estimates will be produced by the Tax on Clubs?

THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER

Sir, I am not able to give any information upon the subject, beyond the negative information which I gave in reply to a similar Question from the hon. Gentleman upon a former evening. Perhaps the hon. Gentleman will be less anxious for the information when I tell him that I intend to accede to the requests that have been made to me from all quarters, and to withdraw that item.
