HC Deb 05 May 1863 vol 170 cc1151-2

said, he wished to ask the Lord Advocate, Whether he intends to bring in any Bill to explain the existing Poor Law of Scotland in regard to the occasional relief of able-bodied poor?

, in reply, said, he had reason to know that in Scotland some doubt had been thrown upon the meaning of parts of the existing Poor Law Act, and he thought it might be desirable to introduce a short Act to make that clear.
