HC Deb 16 March 1863 vol 169 c1465
MR. WALTER

said, that an appeal had been made to him by his right hon. Friend the Vice President of the Committee of Privy Council for Education to postpone the Resolutions which stood in his (Mr. Walter's) name for Friday next, in consequence of an engagement of a much more agreeable nature, which was likely to occasion the absence of many hon. Members on that evening. As his right hon. Friend was of opinion that the discussion of the question could not be satisfactorily conducted under these circumstances, and would not lead to any conclusive result in the absence of the leading Members of the House, he (Mr. Walter) felt it his duty to accede to his request, and postpone the Resolution to the first day he could secure after the Easter recess.
