§ MR. KINNAIRDsaid, he wished to ask the Under Secretary of State for India, What measures have been taken by the Government of India for giving effect to the Act passed by the Council of the Governor General of India, "to enable the Government to divest itself of the management of Religious Endowments"?
MR. T. G. BARING, in reply, said, the Act, which had been very recently passed, and which would be laid on the table, gave the local Governments full powers to act, and did not require any further measures 1250 on the part of the Government of India. It was possible, however, that the latter might think it advisable to issue instructions on the subject.
