HC Deb 09 June 1863 vol 171 c672

Resolutions (June 5) reported.

Motion made, and Question proposed, "That the said Resolutions be now read a second time."

SIR JAMES ELPHINSTONE

said, he wished to draw attention to one fact connected with the Vote for Alderney. It was strange, that though defended by the Secretary to the Admiralty, by the Secretary to the Treasury, and the First Lord of the Treasury, the Vote had not been defended by the hon. Gentleman the Junior Lord of the Admiralty, in whose Department it was. He moved the adjournment of the Debate.

LORD CLARENCE PAGET

said, the expenditure was no more in the Department of the Junior Lord of the Admiralty than any other branch of the business.

Motion made, and Question, "That the Debate be now adjourned,"—(Sir James Elphinstone,)—put, and agreed to.

Debate adjourned till To-morrow.
