§ SIR GEORGE GREYsaid, he had a few nights ago stated, in reply to a similar question asked by another hon. Member, that the only instructions which had been given with reference to this subject were that certain officers of the metropolitan police should see the convicts before they left Milbank, with a view to facilitate their identification. Those instructions were part of a general arrangement which had been contemplated by the Government, but which had been suspended during the sitting of the Royal Commission on the subject, in order that the recommendations of that Commission might first be known.
