MR. FREELAND

said, he wished to ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Whether any Communications have been received from our Military or Naval Officers in command on the China station, with reference to the character and operations of the Taepings, or rebels; and whether the Government will lay upon the table of the House, Copies of, or Extracts from, any such Communications?

MR. LAYARD

stated in reply, that papers received from the agents of the Government relating to the character and operations of the Taepings were being prepared for presentation to the House, and he hoped that they would shortly be laid on the table.
