said, he would beg to ask the Secretary of State for India, If it is his intention to sanction the Clause No. 28, in a Bill introduced into the Legislative Council of India on the 12th day of February, 1862, entitled "A Bill for regulating the Bank of Bengal," by which clause it was declared that "it shall be lawful for the Bank to buy Bills of Exchange for the purpose of remitting funds to meet Bills or Letters of Credit drawn by the Bank in favour of their constituents in the agency department, and to grant Letters of Credit payable out of India for the use of their constituents in the agency department?"

, in reply, said, that the subject was one of great importance; and as it was under the consideration of himself and Council, he could not, of course, answer the Question at present.
