HC Deb 07 August 1862 vol 168 c1216
SIR GEORGE LEWIS

said, that on Monday night the noble Lord the Member for Tamworth (Viscount Raynham) put a Question to him in reference to the punishment inflicted upon a girl in a school under the management of the Committee of the Patriotic Fund. He was not in any way officially responsible for the management of that school, and the information he had received from the Secretary had led him to think that the Ladies' Committee was in existence at the time when this punishment was inflicted; but, from information he had received since, he found that the Ladies' Committee was not in existence in January last.
