HC Deb 14 May 1861 vol 162 c2049
GENERAL UPTON

said, he rose to ask the Secretary to the Treasury, If it be the intention of Government to make arrangements for the despatch of Mails from Stranraer either to Belfast or to Donaghadee; and, if so, to what periods Contracts for conveying the same will be limited?

MR. PEEL

said, he was not aware that there was any intention to make use of the route indicated by the hon. and gallant Member, which for postal purposes was quite unnecessary, there being already a communication between Belfast and Greenock.
