HC Deb 02 May 1861 vol 162 c1374
MR. DANBY SEYMOUR

said, he would beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, Whether, in compliance with the Petition of the Convocation of York, a Royal Licence has been granted empowering that Convocation to repeal or amend the 29th Canon in like manner as the permission of the Crown was granted to the Convocation of Canterbury for that purpose?

SIR GEORGE LEWIS

said, the assent of the Crown to the petition of the Convocation of York had been signified to the Archbishop, and instructions had been given to the Law Officers of the Crown to prepare a proper Licence for Convocation.
