§ MR. BEECROFTsaid, he wished to ask the President of the Poor Law Board, Why the Poor Law Board does not cause to be carried out by Boards of Guardians their instructions to remunerate Poor Law Medical Officers?
§ MR. C. P. VILLIERSsaid, he had some difficulty in answering the Question, because the hon. Member assumed as a fact that which he (Mr. C. P. Villiers) did not know to be the fact. The remuneration of Poor Law Medical Officers proceeded on the same principle as the Government Salaries in all other offices, or, at any rate, he was not aware of any difference. He was not aware of any correspondence which had taken place between Poor Law Guardians and the Poor Law Board on the subject.
