HC Deb 07 March 1861 vol 161 cc1536-7
MR. WYLD,

said he would beg to ask the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, If he has received any despatch from the Consul General at Jeddo complaining of an alleged outrage upon an Englishman named Moss by the Japanese authorities?

LORD JOHN RUSSELL,

in answer, stated that Her Majesty's Government had not received any despatch from the Consul General at Jeddo on the subject. He had heard from an hon. Friend that he had received letters in connection with this case, but he thought it desirable to avoid any premature discussion upon it.
