§ MR. AUGUSTUS SMITHprotested against the power taken by the 2nd Clause of the Bill. It gave compensation to the Land Revenue for the transfer of any premises, being public property, that were required under the Act. It was monstrous that a department should be compensated for the transfer of public property required for the site of public offices. If the principle were applied in this case, it might be be applied to all property.
