§ MR. VINCENT SCULLYsaid, he wished to ask the Under Secretary of State for War, Whether his attention has been called to the scale of pay and allowances to Militia Quartermasters; and whether it is intended to place them more on a par with other Staff Officers in that branch of the Public Service?
MR. T. G. BARINGsaid, that in consequence of the observations made on a former occasion by the hon. and learned Gentleman, he bad instituted inquiries and ascertained that the case of the Militia Quartermasters was referred to the Commission which sat on the Militia in 1859, and that the Commission considered that the pay and allowances of those Officers were sufficient. Therefore it was not intended to propose any alteration.
