said, he would beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade, Whether an application has been made by the Submarine Telegraph Company for an extension of their Charter; and whether any steps will be taken thereupon before the Select Committee on Packet and Telegraphic Contracts have reported upon the subject of Telegraphic arrangements? He would also ask whether, if any Correspondence has taken place on the subject, there will be any objection to its production?

MR. MILNER GIBSON

said, that an application had been made by the Submarine Telegraph Company for an extension of their Charter, but no steps would be taken in the matter till after the Report of the Committee on Contracts had been received. With respect to the production of the correspondence he was unable at present to give an answer.
