HC Deb 08 March 1860 vol 157 cc107-8
MR. BRIGHT

said, he wished to ask Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer, Whether the second reading of the Bill for the Repeal of the Paper Duties would be taken on Monday next, as the hon. Member for Bridgwater (Mr. Kinglake) has withdrawn his Motion for that day.

THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER

said, that an arrangement, subject to the concurrence of the House, had been come to between the hon. Member for East Somersetshire (Sir W. Miles) and the Government, by which the Paper Duty could be taken to-morrow, if the question of the Treaty were disposed of that evening. If it were not, the second reading of the Paper Duty Bill could be taken on Monday next.

MR. HORSMAN

said, that the Bill had not yet been printed.

THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER

said, it would be in the hands of Members before the second reading was moved.
