§ LORD ASHLEYsaid, he wished to ask the Secretary of State for War, Whether his attention has been drawn to the fact that the Fortifications now in progress at Hilsea for the defence of Portsmouth are commanded, at a distance of 2,000 yards, by Portsdown Hill, and whether the Government intend to take any measures for putting Portsdown Hill in a proper state of defence?
