§ SIR WILLIAM VERNERsaid, he wished to ask the right hon. Gentleman the Secretary for Ireland, Whether he will introduce into the Peace Preservation Act Clauses to prevent the exhibition of Flags upon Places of Worship and Public Build- 2156 ings in Ireland, and to restrain, under certain circumstances, the beating of drums or playing upon musical instruments on the high roads or places of public resort in that country.
§ MR. CARDWELLSir, it is the opinion of the Government that the law prohibiting the exhibition of these devices, which unfortunately have given occasion to some of those outrages in Ireland which are so much to be regretted, requires amendment, and it is proposed to amend it with the view stated by the hon. Baronet.
