HC Deb 16 July 1860 vol 159 cc1945-6
MR. BRADY

said, he wished to ask, if it be the intention of the Government to institute a Vaccine Board in Dublin similar to that which exists in London? He would also beg to ask the Chief Secretary for Ireland if his attention has been directed to the fact that the Board of the Cow Pock Institution of Dublin charges 2s. 6d. for two ivory-charged points of vaccine lymph to medical men, whilst the said Board receives an annual grant of £400 for the better supply of pure lymph for the protection of the people?

MR. CARDWELL

replied that the institution referred to was one which received a Grant from Parliament, its object being the gratuitous vaccination of the poor; but it charged private persons 2s. 6d. for vaccine lymph. It supplied Medical Practitioners at 10s. 6d. and Union Workhouses at £1 1s. a year.
