§ MR. KINNAIRDsaid, he would beg to ask the Secretary of State for India what has been done by the Government in India to give effect to the orders contained in Lord Stanley's Despatches as to the redemption of the Land Tax, and the repeal of the regulation XIX. of 1810?
§ SIR CHARLES WOODsaid, he had not heard from the Government of India whether any steps had been taken to carry those measures into effect, but before long he hoped he would receive information on the subject. With regard to the redemption of the Land Tax, he could state that at Madras measures were taken to allow builders of houses in towns to redeem the tax on land on which the houses were built.
