HC Deb 21 February 1860 vol 156 cc1469-70
LORD BURGHLEY

said, he wished to ask the Secretary of State for War when the Field Allowance claimed by the Officers of the Artillery and of the Line, who were sent in the year 1857 to the Attack of Canton, in lieu of the Consolidated Allowance which they were ordered in April, 1859, to refund, is to be paid?

MR. SIDNEY HERBERT

said, the allowance due to the officers engaged at Canton had been paid to those who remained in China. Those who came to England had for the most part applied to the War Office and had been paid, and if any officers who had not yet received their allowance applied to the War Office, and stated the particulars of their claim, the money would be forthcoming.
