HC Deb 17 February 1860 vol 156 c1244
MR. GREGORY

said, he would beg to ask the Chief Secretary for Ireland if it is the intention of the Government to bring in a Bill this Session which shall provide for the religious registration of foundling children, and if so, when it is likely to be introduced?

MR. CARDWELL

said, that in conjunction with the Irish Poor Law Commissioners he had considered the present state of the law in Ireland on the subject referred to by the hon. Member, and he could not but admit that it was very unsatisfactory and required amendment. In bringing in the Poor Law and Medical Charities Act, however, which would occur at an early period, he should have a proposal to make to the House in regard to this matter.
